Traditionally, cooking is done using an open fire, such as a three-stone or similar system, which generates lower heat output and releases harmful fumes into the kitchen.

The stoves are installed in the kitchen by two specialized bricklayers.
The stoves are fitted with safe chimneys, each custom-designed to match the type and dimensions of the kitchen building.
Following installation, stove owners receive training on proper use and maintenance. The Stove Plus team also conducts community awareness sessions on key hygiene and sanitation practices, as well as environmental protection measures.
Each stove owner is required to plant and maintain 10 trees. Self-help women groups are provided with a cash box and an initial start-up amount for their credit and savings schemes.
